Our economy

Charlotte has become a the major U.S. financial center. Two of the five largest banks in the USA have their home in the so-called “Queen City”. Both Bank of America and Wachovia graced Charlotte’s growing skyline with their impressive headquarters. Especially the 871 ft tall Bank of America Corporate Center which is the 23rd highest building in the United States gives the city an unmistakable look.

Next to the banking business, Charlotte also attracts an array of other companies. For example, the following Fortune 500 companies are headquartered in the Charlotte metropolitan area:
