Texas-Germany Bilateral Dialogue on Challenges and Opportunities in the Electricity Market on February, 27th in Austin, TX

The energy transition (“Energiewende”) is a core project and guiding vision of German policy. One of the main targets of the energy transformation is to achieve a share of at least 35% of the electricity consumed in Germany to be covered by renewables by 2020 combined with successful system integration with highest reliability worldwide and numerous actions to increase energy efficiency. With similar energy transition projects taking place in various places around the world, there are significant opportunities for mutual learning and for developing synergies with other countries and regions.

The event aims to deepen Germany’s policy dialogue with the United States and especially with Texas as a leading state undergoing a transformative change in its electricity market in North America. Stakeholders such as energy policy makers and system operators will have the opportunity to discuss common challenges, as well as exchange experiences and best practices with policies designed to address these issues. The bilateral dialogue will consist of a full day workshop followed by a networking reception, during which the participants will have the opportunity to actively engage in the discussion.

The event is organized by the German American Chamber of Commerce of the Southern U.S., Inc. (GACC South) together with adelphi consult on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
