Techtextil North America 2012

Category: GACC South News, Global AHK News, Global DEint News
05/02/2012

The 9th biennial Techtextile North America took place in the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta from April 24th - 26th, 2012.

Organized by Messe Frankfurt, this international trade fair for technical textiles and nonwovens attracted more than 300 exhibitors from all over the world, 37 of them were German companies.

Techtextil North America assembles all vertical aspects of the technical textile industry, including research and development, raw materials, production processes, conversion, further treatment and recycling.

Many of the German exhibitors are frequent participants at this specialty trade show. This year, the number of attending firms has doubled compared to 2010, which reflects the economic recovery trend. Showcased products ranged from machinery and specialty materials to research, novelties and more, all displayed at the collective German Pavillion that set itself apart by a light-colored friendly exhibit design with black-red-gold 'made in Germany'-logos. This appealing presentation was made possible through the support of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) and the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA). Other national pavillions present at the fair were Belgium, Canada, China, Italy and Portugal.

The German Consulate General and the German American Chamber of Commerce (GACC South) in Atlanta invited all German exhibitors and American business partners to an evening reception at the restaurant Stats on April 25th.

After introductory words by Deputy Consul General Dr. Schlicht and Mr. Jacobi, business development manager at GACC South, about 100 guests enjoyed southern barbecue, Atlanta's nice weather and the opportunity to network in a relaxing atmosphere after a busy trade show day. Most of the German guests described their participation in the Techtextile 2012 as successful and expect that newly gained contacts will lead to future business.
