The GACC South is pleased to announce that this years’ Charity Partner for the Gala is SOS Children’s Villages USA.

SOS Children’s Villages International is the largest nonprofit organization in the world dedicated to longterm and sustained care of orphaned & abandoned children. Its Mission is to build families for children in need, to help them shape their own futures and to share in the development of their communities.

Since its founding in 1949 in Austria, SOS Children’s Villages has expanded to almost 500 villages in 132 countries; currently raising over 73,000 children in SOS Children’s Villages and through many SOS education, family strengthening, medical, and outreach programs. SOS impacts the lives of over 1 million people each year.

The Atlanta Committee of SOS Children’s Villages-USA is a local volunteer initiative, committed to building awareness and to raising funds for SOS Children’s Villages International (SOS Kinderdörfer).

SOS Kinderdörfer (www.sos-kinderdoerfer.de) currently operates 15 villages in Germany, 11 villages in Austria, and 1 village in Switzerland. In addition SOS has established numerous Youth Facilities, Kindergartens, and Vocational Training Centers across German speaking regions. The first US-based SOS Children’s Village was established in Florida in 1993.
