October 3, 2009 - The GACC South celebrated their 14th Annual Gala in high style at the prestigious St. Regis Hotel Atlanta with 470 friends - their members and sponsors, in the German-American business community and high ranking officials from the State of Bremen and the State of Lower Saxony in Germany. BLG Logistics was this year's sponsor and the City State of Bremen took on the patronage of the Annual Gala. Throughout the evening Gala guests had the chance to bid on more than 120 items donated by the GACC South's extraordinary network of charitable member and associate companies. All proceeds of the raffle ticket sales will benefit the SOS Children’s Villages USA, the largest non-profit organization worldwide dedicated to the long term and sustained care of orphaned and abandoned children. Following dinner and dancing was the drawing of the GACC South 2009 raffle which featured a thirteen month lease for a 2009 Mercedes ML450 Hybrid. The winner was Mr. Gerald Toledo, CEO & President of Global Industrial Components, Inc. ; Many influential members of the German-American business community in Atlanta and Germany could be found attending the Gala, including the German Consulate General Dr. Lutz Görgens and representatives of the state of Bremen and Niedersachsen such as Ralf Nagel, Minister of Economics and Ports as well a Minister for Justice and the Constitution of the Free Hanseatic City State of Bremen who addressed the sold out crowd. Part of the evening’s special treats included Beck’s beer and wine, flown in from Germany which were sponsored by "Weingut Leitz”, “Chateau d’Aiguilhe". Floral décor was provided by Tulip.
