GACC South & BVL Logistics Roundtable

Blockchain, a technology underlying Bitcoin, has been heralded as disruptive technology with widespread applications in sectors such as finance, insurance, logistics, supply chain, mobility. The Economist labeled it a “trust machine that could change the world.” Big name financial firms, banks, insurance companies, federal agencies, foreign governments, auto manufacturers, and startups are exploring blockchain’s potentials in their respective domains.

One of the sectors that has widespread use of blockchain is logistics and supply chain. IBM, Maersk, Walmart are working on blockchain based solutions to solve multiple problems in supply chain including product provenance, fraud detection, compliance etc. No wonder, Harvard Business Review ran an article titled “Global Supply Chains are about to Get Better, Thanks to Blockchain.”

Rajat Rajbhandari, PhD, Texas A&M Transportation Institute will give an introduction to blockchain and discuss its application and how it will impact various operational aspects of logistics and supply chain – without using too many technology jargons.

Dustin Hebrank, Chief Financial Officer, Gulf Winds International, will speak about his company's approach towards this new technology.
