According to the 2019 State of Women Owned Businesses Report, women owned business represent 13 million businesses, employ 9.4 million workers, and generate $1.9 trillion of revenue. Between 2014 and 2019, the number of women owned businesses grew to a total of 21%, while all other businesses increase by 9%.
As part of the Women’s Series, we will discuss how to support female entrepreneurship, drive partnerships and how to take your business global.
Monica Hooks, the Executive Director of the Women’s Entrepreneurship Initiative (WEI), will give us a brief presentation of their mission. In her role she is in charge of developing, managing, and executing programs and initiatives that support the development and promotion of female entrepreneurship with a keen focus on launching the program’s third cohort. Following her presentation we will hear 1 min pitches from 15 members of the 2020 cohort.
The discussion will be moderated by Vanessa Ibarra, Director, Mayor’s Office of International Affairs & Trade.
