Supporting the German Government with its Energy Dialogue in the US

The German Energiewende, often dubbed as energy transition, pursues ambitious goals in terms of greenhouse gas emission reductions, renewable energy production and energy efficiency improvements. Moreover, it reduces Germany’s dependency on fossil fuel imports and therefore its exposure to price and supply risks.

The Energy Dialogue is a high-level, yet non-formalized cooperation that facilitates regular bilateral exchange between both governments and other stakeholders. Core of the dialogue are key energy policy issues as well as common challenges and opportunities. By fostering mutual learning, the energy dialogue aims to strengthen the energy transition, as well as effective energy policies and cooperation.

Germany and the US, both highly developed OECD countries, have a large potential and dynamism in the expansion of renewable energy and improving energy efficiency. With the energy policy dialogue, the German American Chambers of Commerce and their partners aim to intensify the exchange of relevant experience and explore new areas of collaboration.
