Environmental Technologies Export Initiative

Innovations in protection and efficiency create opportunities for environmental relief as well as sustainable economic growth.

Environmental technologies and environmental innovation are becoming key drivers for prosperity. In 2016, the “Environmental Technologies Export Initiative” of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) was created. The initiative aims to bring environmental technologies to other countries in order to make a meaningful impact both on sustainable development and on improving overall living conditions in other regions of the world. The environmental relevance of sustainable technologies furthermore aims to facilitate the export of German environmental technologies and overall environmental know-how.

Environmental, climate and efficiency technologies open up great opportunities for German enterprises to establish themselves on an international level and to enter new markets. The “Environmental Technologies Export Initiative” of the BMU emphasizes knowledge transfer and technologies in the BMU’s areas of competence, which include:

  • Water and Wastewater management
  • Closed-loop economy
  • Waste and raw materials industry
  • Resource efficiency
  • Wastewater and soil treatment
  • Sustainable / energy efficient construction and urban development
  • Sustainable consumption
  • Environment-friendly mobility
  • Air pollution control
