+1 (404) 214-0434 awilkes@gaccsouth.comSWJ was founded in 2003 to provide engineering, planning, and project management services for companies seeking to improve and streamline their operations. Industry leaders, particularly in the automotive sector, quickly turned to SWJ for its expertise. SWJ continues to work closely with many of today’s leading automotive brands and provides services globally.
Several years ago, a major German automotive manufacturer engaged SWJ to design and build a hazard containment system capable of extinguishing a lithium-powered vehicle (EV) fire. SWJ swiftly responded with what is now called the HCS (Hazard Containment System). SWJ continues its development providing hazard containment systems for all lithium energy systems and Lithium powered vehicles. The “HCS” has become the foundation of SWJ’s safety division, SWJ Safety Systems.
Lithium-ion batteries power many of today’s technologies but they also carry a significant fire risk known as a thermal runaway. The most effective way to control a thermal runaway is by submerging and cooling the battery in water. By holding the battery underwater, damaged or affected cells can “burn out” without overheating the surrounding components and perpetuating the fire. SWJ’s containment systems keep batteries and their host submerged until the event is neutralized. SWJ’s systems are available in standard or custom sizes both of which are fully transportable.
To complement SWJ’s containment systems, SWJ offers a full line of fire blankets and thermal imaging cameras. SWJ’s fire blankets are Din Spec certified to withstand the heat and force of a lithium fire. SWJ’s thermal imaging cameras can detect smoke, flames, and temperature variations using a single device. Each product represents the best in their field.
All SWJ’s subsidiaries including its machining and fabrication subsidiary deliver complete turnkey solutions for organizations that demand excellence in project planning, staffing, and facility safety. If SWJ can solve problems for a German car manufacturer, imagine what it can do for you.
