What is your business industry category or specialty?

RSM specializes in professional services, focusing on audit, tax, and consulting for middle-market businesses. Through our Germany Country Practice, we provide tailored solutions to German-speaking companies navigating the U.S. market.

How do you describe your job to people outside the industry?

The Germany Country Practice at RSM helps German-speaking businesses thrive in the U.S. by providing strategic advice and tailored solutions to address complex challenges. We act as a bridge between cultures, navigating regulatory frameworks and aligning business practices to create a foundation for success in a dynamic and competitive market.

Who are your main competitors, and what differentiates you from the competition? What makes you unique?

Our main competitors are other global professional services firms, but RSM differentiates itself with an exclusive focus on the middle market. This allows us to deliver personalized attention and tailored solutions that middle-market companies value, alongside the deep industry expertise typically associated with larger firms. Unlike the Big 4, RSM combines specialization and flexibility, ensuring clients receive customized support. Additionally, our seamless collaboration with RSM Ebner Stolz in Germany enables us to provide comprehensive services for German-speaking businesses, blending local U.S. insights with international expertise.

How many employees does the business have?

Globally, RSM has over 64,000 professionals, with around 17,000 in the U.S. The Germany Country Practice consists of a dedicated team of specialists across several of our 80 U.S. offices.

What is your number one business goal over the next year?

Our top priority over the next year is to expand RSM’s Germany Country Practice by increasing visibility and engagement with German-speaking businesses. Our focus is on demonstrating the tailored support and strategic insights we offer to help these companies thrive in the U.S. market.

What is the best advice you have received regarding doing business with Americans/Germans?

One of the best pieces of advice I've received is to appreciate the differences in communication and decision-making styles. Americans often prioritize quick decisions and flexibility, while Germans value thorough preparation and detailed analysis. Recognizing and balancing these approaches fosters trust and strengthens cross-cultural business relationships.
